The very young Becky (nee Friedland) Alter's second wife. This is a studio portrait probably taken in Milwaukee when she was sixteen, and many years before she met him..

This is Becky (still Friedland) at the time when she had moved away from her Milwaukee family to work in the garment industry in Chicago. The picture was probably taken in the backyard of the home of a good friend, Olive Curlain.

Becky Esselin with her infant son, Yosl (Joseph) taken in Los Angeles probably in late Fall of 1923.

Joe Esselin at age nearly six. The Esselin household had moved to Milwaukee a couple years earlier…most of Becky's family lived in that city, and it was there that they settled. He is standing on the sidewalk in front of the house in which they had a two room flat on Meinecke street on Milwaukee's North side.
